Being a new mama is the most rewarding thing in the world, but can certainly be challenging to navigate at times. One thing that became obvious very quickly to us as new moms was the importance of a good support system of other moms. But where and how do you find that? Especially if you are in a new area, or are the first of your friends to have a baby! Answering that question was one of the inspirations behind opening FIT4MOM in Fort Mill and Rock Hill. While fitness is an important component, it's also about creating a community of moms to empower, encourage and motivate each other in all facets of our lives. That support is vital for us to be the best mamas and women we can be each and every day. We can't wait to meet you! Welcome to Our Village!
My name is Tamara Galloway and I live in Rock Hill, South Carolina with my husband Zander and our sweet little boy, Dalton, who was born in January of 2017. Fitness has always been an interest of mine and I have always enjoyed trying new workouts to challenge my body – cross fit, High-Intensity Interval training, yoga, reformer Pilates, kickboxing, Spinning, and even a class that had me hanging from the ceiling in a hammock! I have also done 2 Sprint-triathlons. I am so excited to bring all I have learned in these different forms of exercise to the workouts I will create for local mamas!
I have been fortunate to stay home with my son and as much as I treasured that opportunity and loved every second of being home with him every day, like most stay-at-home moms, I found it difficult to fit in any time for myself.. An hour at the gym, or going out with friends was very tough without feeling that “mom-guilt.” I was having a hard time meeting a group of other mamas and desperately needed to be around others who were going through the high, lows, excitement and fears of motherhood. Soon after that, FIT4MOM Fort Mill & Rock Hill were born. It was the exercise that got me interested, and the community we could build that got me hooked! It feels like another part of my journey in motherhood and I am so excited to bring that excitement to other moms. I can’t wait to hear your stories of motherhood (the good, the bad, and the ugly), support you and your goals and welcome you into “Our Village”!more
My name is Cameron Slattery, a wife, an extreme snow lover (perhaps I was a meteorologist in my past life) and a mama to our baby Jack who was born by the grace of God in October of 2017.
My journey with FIT4MOM began when I got the news I was not going to be allowed to work part time at my previous place of employment, that had been in the works for quite awhile. I needed and craved adult interaction but wanted to raise our son, so our plan was perfect. Once I received the news I felt completely lost. I was even more lost while sitting at home with our baby boy in the few weeks after his birth all while at the same time loving him immensely. How could this be? We prayed for him for over a year, he was finally here and yet something was missing. So, I did what all of us do when in search for an answer. I googled. Google had it right again, FIT4MOM was my answer. Things do always work out the way they are supposed to and time and time again I have seen this come into fruition in my life.
I have always been an avid gym goer. I was fortunate enough to have classes at my former place of employment which exposed me to a variety of different workouts. Sometimes I would even wake up at 5am for boot camp classes Monday through Friday. I'm not really sure I know that girl anymore, clearly that was before Jack! I really enjoyed all types of classes but my favorites were the ones that I could see results in if I kept at it.
Stroller Strides and FIT4MOM have fallen into my lap at the most perfect time in my life. It has blended so nicely the need for results driven workouts, time with Jack, and other mamas to lean on during times that are difficult, times that I have no clue what I'm doing (last week I received a video from a fellow mama in our village showing me how to use the syringe for infant Tylenol - who the heck knew it worked like that!), times that I just need a coffee or glass of wine (depending on the time, but lets be real its 5 o'clock somewhere.) and times that I just need other moms to do this motherhood thing WITH!
I look forward to meeting you, and welcoming you to our village. Come as you are, and leave with friendships, encouragement, sore (in a good way) muscles, and answers to any possible motherhood question that might be on your mind. If its how to use the syringe on the Tylenol bottle. I'm your girl!
